Who we are

This site is an independently operated family health and wellness blog. We publish educational articles. We are not a medical provider and we do not collect medical records from readers.

Information we collect

Information you send us. If you email thehealthkitstudio@gmail.com or use a contact form, we may receive your name, email address, and message. We use that to reply. We do not add you to a marketing list unless you separately opt in.

Information collected automatically. When you visit, our host, analytics tools, and (when ads are live) advertising partners may collect technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages viewed, referring URL, approximate location (city/region/country), cookie identifiers, and how you use the site.

Comments. If you leave a comment, we may collect the name, email, website, and message you submit, plus IP address and browser type to help detect spam. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar to display a profile picture. See Automattic’s privacy policy.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child submitted information, email us and we will delete it.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • operate, secure, and improve the site
  • answer messages
  • measure which pages are read and how people find us
  • display advertising (including interest-based ads when a partner such as Mediavine is active)
  • track affiliate referrals when you click those links
  • comply with law

We do not sell your name or email list as a mailing list. Advertising partners may collect identifiers and use or share them for interest-based advertising, which some U.S. state laws treat as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. See Your privacy rights below.

We may share data with service providers (hosting, analytics, email, security, advertising) and if the law requires it.

Cookies

Advertising (Mediavine)

This site is built to work with Mediavine for display advertising. When Mediavine ads are live, Mediavine and its partners may use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar tools to show ads, including ads that may be based on your interests. Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. Consumer health data

Articles on this site discuss general family health and wellness. That is published content, not a medical file about you.

We do not ask readers to submit diagnoses, medications, or other consumer health data in order to use the site. We do not sell consumer health data. We do not use information you type into a contact email to target health-condition ads.

If you email us about a personal health situation, we use that message only to reply, then keep it only as long as needed to handle the conversation. Do not send medical emergencies to this inbox.

Washington, Nevada, and similar consumer-health-data laws may treat some browsing of health content as sensitive. When Mediavine ads are live, Mediavine states that it uses technical controls so readers in certain states are not associated in the bid stream with certain health topics. Your privacy rights (United States)

Depending on your state, you may have the right to request access to or deletion of personal information you sent us, to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

These tools are run by third parties. Opting out of interest-based ads does not mean you will see no ads. You may still see contextual or non-personalized ads.

Visitors in the EU, UK, and similar regions

If you visit from a region covered by GDPR or the UK GDPR, our legal bases for processing include: performing a request you make (replying to email), legitimate interests in running a secure website and understanding aggregated traffic, and consent where required for non-essential cookies and personalized ads.

How long we keep information

Email you send us is kept only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable record of the conversation, unless law requires longer. Analytics and ad cookies follow the retention of those providers. Comments, if enabled, may be kept until we remove the comment or close comments.

Security and international processing

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures, but no website is perfectly secure. Our host, analytics, and advertising partners may process data in the United States and other countries.

Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Material advertising-language updates from Mediavine may be added without a separate announcement so the site can stay in their program.
